Once this tray is emptied it is rotated to the top and becomes the working tray. (As you can see, I do not pulverize eggshells and use this compost as is and it\'s fabulous!)

The vermicompost in that tray can be dumped and stored in a container like this. It must have ventilation as it is a living, breathing material. Can be stored for years this way and will get better with age.

This tray will be virtually all vermicompost. Most all the cocoons will have hatched and moved up. I always find stragglers though.

You will add another tray just the same way. When a new tray needs to be added,it is time to harvest the first tray. WOO HOO!

Replace the top. If contact is not good after some time add a little shredded paper to give the worms a way to move up. (They are lousy jumpers)

The food your removed from the first tray will go in the second tray. Tray #1 will not be fed again. (Check weekly for contact though).

Place the new tray on the first one, making sure there is contact between the top of the material in first tray and the bottom of the new second tray.
